Rob Wilson’s spiritual biography

For over 30 years, Rob Wilson has been immersed in exploring and expressing Britain’s rich Pagan heritage. Rooted primarily in Druidry, Rob’s spiritual path is one of depth, vitality, and raw connection to the natural world. To him, being a modern-day Druid means nurturing the sacred relationship between soul and nature—both within and around us. It is about granting ourselves the freedom to let our soul speak without fear or inhibition, and embracing the responsibility of serving as a priest of nature, attuned to the spirit of tree, stone, and the ancestral bones beneath our feet.
Rob shares his wisdom with others by helping them explore and express their spirituality in creative, profound, and earth-rooted ways. Influenced by a wide array of Pagan traditions—including Druidry, Witchcraft, Shamanism, and Spiritualism—his spiritual journey has evolved into a deeply lived practice that, in his words, allows him to “navigate the madness, intolerance, and materialism of the 21st century.”
Professionally, Rob holds a degree in Geography, Environmental Studies, and Psychology, which has guided his work in environmental education and community outreach. He has been an active member of the Pagan Federation, the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids (OBOD), The British Druid Order and The Druid Network. Today, he resides in the Lake District National Park, where his spiritual and professional lives continue to intertwine with the land he cherishes.
A Personal and Spiritual Journey
Rob’s spiritual path began in earnest in the early 1990s, when his family moved to Vigo, a wooded village in Kent. Amid personal turmoil and a period of depression, he found strength and clarity through Pagan spirituality. It was during this time that he joined OBOD and began their correspondence course in Druidry. He also became involved with a working group called “Rhiannon’s Wheel,” where he was initiated and later co-led the group alongside Traditional Witch Margaret Pearson.
Rob soon took on the role of Pagan Federation Regional Coordinator for Kent, revitalising the local Pagan community through open rituals, rites of passage, talks, nature walks, and pub moots. After several successful years, he stepped down to focus on founding the North West Kent Grove, affiliated with the British Druid Order. This grove embodied the earthy, animistic principles Rob had developed in his solitary practice.
Simultaneously, he founded Woodspirit, an initiative offering outdoor workshops and talks, and contributed to The Druid Network as a liaison coordinator. He also supported the Order of the Yew and remained active in a private coven until it was dissolved in 2002.
Following the closure of his Grove in 2006, Rob spent time in deep spiritual reflection. A new vision emerged during the Lughnasadh full moon in 2008, culminating in the formation of Roharn’s Grove later that year at Samhain.
Personal Life and Partnership
In 2009, Rob met his partner Iain. Their union was blessed at Druid Camp in a simple ceremony that July, followed by a civil partnership in 2011 and a Handfasting ceremony in the woods near their home. Iain plays an essential role in supporting Rob’s work through Woodspirit and their joint facilitation of spiritual events, workshops, and ceremonies.
A Return to Simplicity
By 2015, Rob began stepping back from external organisations and group commitments to seek a more distilled and authentic expression of his animistic spirituality. This path emphasises deep connection with land, spirit, ancestors, and the elements—working with herbs, roots, bark, and the quiet language of place.
In 2019, Rob and Iain relocated to the Lake District, where Rob accepted a role at the University of Cumbria’s Ambleside campus. Since then, he has been deepening his relationship with the wild landscapes of Cumbria, allowing the land to guide his practice.
